Congressman Ewing Thomason reports War Department plans to buy about 13 million pounds of wool to supply an enlarged Army and Civilian Conservation Corps. The department notes no further wool purchases expected in the near future and that the bid process may affect the wool market.
Farmers of Quemado Valley will receive seed and seed loans immediately to replant, per a telegram sent Friday from Congressman Milton West to E. H. Schmidt of Eagle Pass. West said a Farm Credit Administration representative from Dallas was en route to Quemada with orders to issue the loans.

Elizabeth Miller 62 died of a heart attack Saturday at noon in her home 106 Arbor Place Garden Parks found by her son Claude Miller at lunch. Born May 3 1872 she was married Dec 5 1899 in Spofford Junction to Charles Louis Miller who died Aug 22 1910 in Uvalde. Burial planned in Uvalde with service in Del Rio. Survived by three sons Clarence Earl and Claude Miller a sister Mrs W J Burns and brothers John and Ed Gilder.
Former Del Rio resident Mrs. Barry dies in San Antonio after a long illness. She moved to San Antonio three years ago and served as secretary of the Associated Charities in Del Rio. Funeral set for Monday at 9 a.m. at St Marys Catholic Church in San Antonio. survivors include husband M. L. Barry two brothers Walter Fegan Indiana and Al Fegan El Paso and sister Miss Maybelle Fegan San Antonio.
J B Keely chief engineer of the Texas Relief Commission announced approval to replace the old steel bridge over San Felipe Creek at Canal Street with a new concrete bridge. The relief office will provide 15 466 dollars in labor and the total project cost is 26 538 75 dollars with the city supplying 13 052 75 for materials non relief supervision and labor.
Santa Fe April 5. Gov Clyde Tingley announced the state police force will be increased immediately to 22 members. Fourteen men will be chosen and put into training to become full fledged officers. The move aims to reduce the need to call out the national guard during local disturbances.
Toledo authorities investigate the kidnaping of Paul Greiner nine and two other boys in Cleveland last night. A man forced them into his car and drove them to Toledo as the case draws regional attention.
District Court in Eagle Pass convicted six teenage boys on burglary attempted burglary and conspiracy during the Spring term. Virgil Campbell three years reformatory for burglary. Raudl Barera three years penitentiary for burglary. Frank Mayer three years reformatory for conspiracy. Paco Porter two years penitentiary for attempted robbery. Roy Carroll two years penitentiary for attempted robbery. Encarnacion Barrientos five years penitentiary on morals charge. Sentences at minimum due to age. case capped months of escalating petty crimes.
Senator Thomas of Oklahoma said he planned to offer amendments to the cash bonus bill to make it more acceptable to the administration. The Senate monetary bloc also moved to press for quick action on the Wheeler bill for free coinage of silver at 16 to 1.
Gas line tax take for March reached 230,261.09, up from 179,242.99 a year ago. State Land Commissioner Frank Wesley said oil and gas rental income from lands will top one million dollars this year, compared with 810,612.17 last year.
In San Angelo on April 6 Studley & Emery of Boston, represented by D FE and Jack Hughes of San Angelo, bought about 400000 pounds of kid and grown mohair at 18 to 20 cents a pound. The increase of 2 cents per pound followed at several Texas concentration points.
About 225 voters cast ballots at 2 o'clock Saturday for the Del Rio Independent School District trustee race six candidates seek three seats. Incumbents C B Wardlaw and W A Earnest seek re election. Other candidates include Mrs Pattie Jo Hamilton Mrs Cathryn Wayman Bryan Kelley Marshall Smith and W E Tinnin. Voting took place at Central Elementary School.
A Friday storm leveled several buildings in Quemada Valley including the historic adobe barn built in 1858 at the Lehman ranch. Built by ranger captain Josiah Wilbarger after 14 months of work, the barn was the centerpiece of the site though the Lehman ranch house and nearby huts remained standing or mostly intact.

Defective attic wiring in Manuel Ramos’s house at 613 Magnolia Street sparked a blaze at 1 45 p m Saturday. Fire Chief Harry Arfman said the Del Rio Fire Department responded and the damage was estimated at $25.
