Illinois Highway Construction Halted Without Permit
United Press dispatch from Springfield reports S E Bradt announcing Illinois highway and paving work will stop November 1 unless a permit from the United States Highway Council is obtained. The order affects the Lincoln Highway and ends work until after the war, Bradt said.

Liberty Loan Train Arrives For Half Hour Rally
The Liberty Loan train of the North Western reached the depot at ten this morning with nearly all road workers present. Superintendents J G Cowan and T J McAndrews, Guy Lind, and Attorney Pendergrass spoke with zeal. Station Agent Allen said at noon most employees would buy bonds, aiming for 100 percent. George Culver of American Railway Express reported all his staff would sign up before day’s end.
