Speedsters in Mishap on Lincoln Highway
Two Chicago men L W Guen ther and Charles Turnbloom and Motor Officer Ben Peck were involved in a crash on the Lincoln Highway near Third Street about 11 oclock after Peck tried to stop the speeding cars by whistle. Guenther led in a coupe with Turnbloom close behind. both were said to be traveling at least 30 mph between Third and Fourth streets. Peck struck the intersection light, damaged his sidecar, then pursued Turnbloom who halted mid block. He obtained the Ford coupe number but the driver fled. Turnbloom was taken to the police station on speeding charges. the other driver remained at large as authorities held the car for possible settlement of damages. There is consensus that both were speeding and at fault, with damages to Peck and others noted.
