Sheriff Henry Decker on Thursday escorted Joliet Charles Thomas alias James Thomas alias James Majone William Martin alias William Smith and Mike Rudy who pleaded guilty before Judge Cliffe in circuit court. They form the gang that stole an automobile this fall near Triumph and were captured after causing trouble for Decker and family. One member had escaped from several jails this summer and the group has prior records. State's Attorney Smith is credited for efficient work. The resolution cites circular letters scattered nationwide regarding Senator Harding attributed to Professor Chancellor and at least partly written by him.
Two workers at the American Steel and Wire company gate shop argued over remarks. One man grabbed a piece of steel and struck the other on the head, knocking him unconscious briefly before revival.
