Gust Peterson of Sycamore died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 30 P M from the First Lutheran Church in Sycamore. He was well known locally and had many relatives in the area. Mrs A L Barker of 825 East Lim junction Highway received a wire yesterday noting her brother W H Scovill death in Ottawa Kansas. No details yet but it is likely Mrs Barker will reach Ottawa in time for the funeral.
United Press reports Britain halted activities for two minutes at 11 o’clock in respect to World War heroes as trains and traffic paused. In Paris, France marked the republic’s 50th anniversary and Armistice Day with military honors for fallen soldiers and Gambetta’s heart interred at the Pantheon, uniting two commemorations.
Bohemian violinist and ex soldier Joe the Violinist, who served in the Great War as Buck Private and later performed 90 concerts for Allied troops in France, appears on Nov 18. He played under all conditions for soldiers and civilians from tents to depots, including Knights of Columbus and YMCA venues.
