In a fast moving sequence Chamber of Commerce and H F Fargo of Geneva conferred this afternoon on a proposed Sycamore theatre site near California street. Ira Wetzel offered his adjacent property and a 40000 bond issue was floated to furnish the project. Fargo halted progress by citing state regulations, prompting a two o clock meeting to select an alternative site near a small park, with higher costs likely and more bonds needed. The plan envisioned a 800 seat house with Geneva organ and modern lights for plays, movies and a community center. Sycamore backers limited seating to eventual expansion and waited to see if the venture could proceed under new site constraints.
Crossword puzzles are now included in packs of British cigarettes replacing picture cards. The move introduces a new form of entertainment for smokers and may affect package design and marketing strategies in the British tobacco industry.
