Maria Holmbeck Dies After Long Illness at 105
Mrs Maria Holmbeck 764 Haish boulevard died Thursday afternoon at home after a prolonged illness. Born February 21 1860 in Sod erberke Dalarna Sweden she married William Holmbeck in 1887. The couple emigrated to the United States in 1892 living in Chicago before settling in DeKalb. Survivors include one son Carla Imbeck a DeKalb clerk and one daughter Monicka Holmbeck. husband predeceased her twenty years ago.

Haish Library Construction Starts in DeKalb
Work began yesterday as Skoglund Wedbere company prepares to excavate for the Jacob Haish Memorial library to be built this year. The DeKalb firm holds the contract. Riot at New Jersey prison costs two lives
In Trenton on March 14, Charles Evans, an inmate, triggered a mass escape attempt at the state prison by attacking guards with a home made blackjack and gunfire. Guard Frank Butcher was killed, guard William Gordon wounded, Evans killed himself after tear bombs halted the riot. Warden Stone suspended trusty privileges.

Hobbs Funeral Services Set for West Lincoln Farmer
Funeral services for Frank Hobbs, a well known West Lincoln Highway farmer, will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM from his residence one mile west of town. Rev. J. C. Spencer will conduct the rites. burial in Creston cemetery. Coroner Dr. Culver to hold inquest at 5 PM at Nelson & Rowan chapel. Hobbs died yesterday noon from carbon monoxide inhalation while working on his car. He was born Oct 18 1968 in Chidcock Bridport England and lived in Mason City Creston Evansville before settling west of town twelve years ago. Survived by wife Mary Van Stone, two sons Roy and Verne, four grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters in England.
