Former DeKalb Normal School student Grace Baird died recently in Chicago. A leading student and V Y W C A figure, she earned degrees at Illinois and Chicago, taught botany at Bowen High School for nine years, and had strong family ties to DeKalb. Funeral services were held in Urbana and burial followed in Waukegan.
Prohibition Commissioner Kramer announced plans to issue a warning against producing or selling beer containing more than one half of 1 percent alcohol for beverage use. The move responds to Palmer’s ruling allowing beer manufacture for non beverage or medicinal uses, which Kramer says does not apply to beverage beer.
