Myron H. West city planner spoke at the club session on adopting a definite city plan urged by the Garden club. He cited 300 cities adopting plans, outlined zoning and street layouts, parks and civic buildings, and said Rockford would save substantial costs by a well designed plan.
Rev A W Otis of Malta speaks of local poultry yields with a flock of 75 chickens providing about 34 to 40 eggs daily. He notes the birds are not kept in a run and average three dozen eggs daily, with some days higher, and that several farmers aim for similar production.
A group of youths from Tent and Pleasant streets forced the door of the old burial vault at the cemetery yesterday afternoon. Police were alerted and had to inspect the Tule stone building to ensure it remained closed to the public.
Dr. B Barrett Evans, who spent time in Italy, will speak on sunny Italy at the local church. The talk on Sounds March 6 at 7 pm will include a stereopticon survey by the centenary and postwar scenes. All are invited if not engaged elsewhere.

Gear Hoyt of Maple Park, known for annual horse sales, says about 50 head will be disposed of quickly at his Maple Park barn this Saturday as local farmers plan to leave tractors in sheds this year. Kismet Is Coming.
Senator Wright, spending the week at home with no Senate business, pushes a bill to appropriate 46000 for tuberculosis work in cattle. He notes prior figures of 10000 and says the federal government will match, totaling about 380,000 for the initiative. Wright plans to return to Springfield next Monday as the matter is expected to accelerate.
Scarlet fever cases reported by Dr J Ketncey health officer outside city limits near Terwilliger farm south of DeKalb. One mild case expected to be contained. Several chicken pox cases noted. Ill children in a Glidden school room also sick with disease.
Mrs John Revatt, a Malta resident, died this morning at Rochelle hospital where she had been a patient for weeks after major surgery. Relatives note a decline in health in the final days and funeral plans will likely be in Malta with obituary notices to follow.
DeKalb readers learn about five couples receiving marriage licenses this week. The list names Clifford W Hendrickson and Bertha Mae Bullett both over 18, William Henry Wilton and Lillie Price, plus Caroline Reinzell and Charles Herold Beach, Irene Marguerite Carson and Sven Janore, Celia Leonhard and an 18 year old DeKalb partner. Washington March 22 nearly all appropriation bills had passed the Senate and House and were sent to the president. The naval and sundry civil measures stalled as Senate members objected to setting a definite voting hour. The Army appropriation aimed at extending hospital facilities for disabled soldiers, with a proposed 186 million dollar total, was advanced amid ongoing efforts to salvage the sundry civil bill and other measures as the sessions stretched into Friday.
United Press reports on March 3 that Secretary of Labor William G. Wilson accepted an appointment to an international commission offered by President Wilson. Tumulty had declined the post and suggested the labor secretary, but stated he could not take the assignment due to professional commitments.
Reports from Doom Holland state the former Kaiserin Augusta Victoria suffered another sinking spell today with her condition described as very serious. Mention is made of the former crown prince being summoned as a precaution. The garbled text also includes unrelated references to bread products and a pastry brand.
The Morris city council Tuesday night rejected the gas proposal amid confusion over the leading issue. The city attorney and utility company lawyers argued a 25 cent increase would avoid federal court action, while a 24 cent rise could trigger court cases. Six members of the large club who held first rank last Thursday will begin the second rank work at tonight's lodge meeting. Plans call for meetings twice weekly to finish the pending work promptly. Sewer applications will be discussed at this week's meeting.
A $600000 damages suit was filed in the District of Columbia supreme court by the Call newspaper against Sidney Gurleson who retires as postmaster general tomorrow. The filing accuses Barkson as porchmaster general of cancelling second class mailing privileges and abusing power to violate the publisher’s rights.
President Wilson announced he will enter the practice of law with former Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby. Offices will be in New York and Washington, D. C. The move follows his presidency and is noted in the Chronicle Want Ads.
The DeKalb County grand jury returned 15 indictments after rapid proceedings. Erickson and another suspect linked to the Carlson Benson robbery were released then re-arrested. Ward Ohlinger pled guilty and received 1 to 20 years at Joliet. Others faced charges from petty larceny to fraud, with several defendants ordered to leave the state or sentenced to jail or Pontiac penalties. Eight DeKalb men were indicted for manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors in prohibition territory. The grand jury was discharged for the term.
Excavation began early today for the new city hospital with a force of men and several teams using large shovels. Board members express satisfaction and pledge to push the project toward rapid completion once drainage and excavation finish.
At a city union meeting held last evening a full ticket was decided for the forthcoming municipal election next month. No candidates were chosen yet but one is expected to be approached soon, possibly Sunday. A candidate for city clerk is also suggested.

Sixteen railway union chiefs in Chicago authorized the strike by Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic employees. It marks the first approval of a rail strike by union chiefs since the United States Railroad Board began. The strike followed Judge Silsbee of Atlanta authorizing a wage-receiver for the A B A to refuse wage increases.
Passenger business on the North Western remains in a slump according to the daytime ticket agent in charge of paste board sales. It is the slowest period in years as travelers balk at paying a fortune for short trips. Some expect no pickup before April, though a few believe improvement may arrive early spring.
DeKalb post of the American Legion meets tonight at the Legion rooms above the Columbia Coffee and Tea store. Commander H B Goodison says few items of business will be discussed beyond routine affairs and all members are urged to attend.
DeKalb mourns the death of Harry Hall who died at 5 am in Tucson Arizona after a two year illness. Born 61 years ago in Clinton township he lived in DeKalb since boyhood. Surviving daughter Persis ten, wife died years ago, mother Persis Hall also passed away last year. Burial planned in DeKalb with Methodist church services pending time. Hall worked many years at the Glove factory and had longtime local friends.
The John Ericsson day banquet at the Armory in Aurora on March 9 will feature United States Senator Medill McCormick Rep Gotfried Dahlberg speaker of the Illinois house L Copley and Mrs Manley L Fosseen of Minneapolis as principal speakers A Y W C A hosts the women’s headquarters with a 1 PM luncheon and a 3 PM reception for Mrs Fosseen at the Y W C A.
Iroquois county police sought yeggmen who robbed Wellington State Bank, escaping with Liberty bonds and cash valued at $15,000. Entry was through the wall. vault and safety deposit boxes were opened. Adjourned Royal Neighbors notice lists Friday 3:00 PM at Odd Fellows Hall.
London and Paris reports describe an ultimatum to Germany demanding acceptance of reparations terms before Monday noon. Lloyd George warned that penalties would hit Duisburg, Ruhr ports, Düsseldorf, and exports with a Rhine customs line. Von Simons and German delegates expressed resolve, while French naval movements signaled potential action. A separate note mentions a Rhine fleet deployment and continued allied pressure.
