The parochial Lutheran church school opened for a six week term with a class of 60 students. Two teachers are on duty now and a third may join if enrollment grows. The program aims to teach children about religion and general learning during the summer session.

Police search for drivers of a touring car that sped north on 14th Street last night with a woman in the front seat screaming. Residents reported the incident but the license number was not provided, leaving investigators unsure if the woman rode willingly or under duress.

The advance train of the Stermiedus Stock company arrived yesterday carrying tents and show materials. The rest of the troupe will reach later today after performing in Polo last night. The company opens tonight and will stay at least a week.
Traffic cops are out on main streets as warm weather draws crowds each Saturday night. Their presence has reduced accidents, especially at crowded corners, and they will patrol until September when the seasonal busier period ends.
