Shriner Convention Impresses Washington with Parade and Pageantry
Reading from letters of Miss Minnie Jones, Bertha Barmilin recalls the Washington Shriner convention. The event featured electric lights along the avenues, grand parades led by Turkish garbed patrols, bands and chanters, and the Medinah Temple’s large delegation. Navy carrier Langley and Admiral Moffett granted access, while governors and leaders spoke on stage and a theatrical air filled the capital.
