Liner Carolina sunk as 19 survivors saved off New Jersey

Friend of Deanes Was On Moldavia Aboard
Private W L Keller a friend of Mr and Mrs G H Deane was aboard the Moldavia. A letter from Mrs Keller in Chicago says the government reports him safe after the Moldavia was torpedoed May 23. Keller and his wife were guests of the Denues from Rockford when Company H was entertained. He later served in North Carolina and Long Island and Mrs Keller, a French girl, has taken the telephone service exam and may go to aid.

Vicious Dog Death Ended by City Officer on Tenth Street
Around eleven this morning a bull dog attacked children on North Tenth Street. Officer Rowe fired one shot with his rifle, the dog falling headshot. The pursuing public safety wagon arrived as the animal collapsed. Children injured were not seriously hurt. the owner’s identity could not be determined.
