Victor Dearth motor trip to Ohio City
Dearth Brothers received a card from Victor Dearth written at Van Wert Ohio saying he reached the city in two and a half days and that they stopped at Elkhart. Victor and family are en route by auto to Beverly Ohio to visit his parents. They were joined to Elkhart by Ira Witter of DeKalb. Roads excellent. They will be away about three weeks.

Last evening the DeKalb military band gave a weekly concert that drew a well attended crowd. Cars lined the street around the park and many visitors came from out of town. The park benches were filled and the program was unusually good, pleasing the audience.

The body of Lafayette Vital Brunner arrives in New York City July 15 from France, with funeral set for Sunday July 24 in Sycamore. Boy Flings Oats At Car On Lincoln Highway
A 13-year-old boy on a hay rack hurled a bundle of oats at a passing car on the Lincoln Highway west of Ashton, shattering the windshield and wounding the passengers lightly. The assailant was stopped. he is the son of D. B. Yenerich, who vowed to cover the vehicle damage. The Lightners and others were returning from Chicago when the incident occurred.

Speed Cops Catch Numerous Speed Violators At Court
Police report two more offenders arrested yesterday with one facing court today for speeding. Harold Stone and Darcey paid fines. Darcey taxi driver refused to pay and attempted to persuade others. Speed patrols have collected about 15 offenders this week for various traffic violations including driving with one light and having no ticket. Fines for speeding are modest and costs are lower than penalties.

Cement road opens east of Dixon to traffic
H E Surman chief engineer Dixon office state division of highways announced the stretch of Lincoln Highway between Dixon area and Nachusa is permanently open to traffic. Contractor Jakks rushed the cement paving since spring and opened the improved stretch this morning with shoulder work to follow about two weeks. Surman said Elburn to Geneva remains and, barring that, the Lincoln Highway from Elburn to the Mississippi should be open by mid August.

Watch Lost for 89 Years Found in Cornfield Slough
George Gurier, who lost a watch with chain and fob 89 years ago in the Daniel Lattin slough five miles south of town, recovered it after J. S. Cusson helped search. Percy Lattin found the watch while plowing corn as the slough was drained and planted. The case was in good condition but the works were badly rusted.
