City workers begin refilling Normal pond by linking hydrant to sewer to refresh the creek fed pool. The crowd of city children uses the pond daily, and council approved the project amid low creek flow. Next year water will be piped under West Lincoln Highway to feed the pond’s south end.
Tomorrow night Company M will hold its regular meeting and after drill ends a vote will determine if men go to Camp Logan. If enough support exists a trip will be set. if not, the outing will be called off. The trip offers rifle range practice and a vacation-like outing for the unit.
Ha Conner, formerly of Richardson and Sycamore, drowned in the San Joaquin River near Crowe Landing while swimming with his father. A World War veteran, Conner had recently moved from Chicago to Turlock California and worked at a local laundry.
State Inspector of Automobiles Harry J. Olson actively monitors drivers, issuing warnings and taking action with local and county authorities for those failing to carry this year’s license. Many stopped had applied for renewal, while a few attempted to use old licenses.

Daniel Arbuckle longtime Kingston farmer and father of Mrs Harrington died yesterday at Mayo Brothers hospital Rochester after a recent operation. He leaves wife two sons and two daughters Philip of Texas Frank of Kingston Sadie Harrington and Jennie Sherk Funeral services set for 2 pm Wednesday at home led by the MaSotls.
John S. Shaver, 87, longtime DeKalb county resident, died after a long illness. Funeral at his daughter Mrs. P. S. Corey’s home tomorrow at 9 a.m. Interment at Main Cemetery. He moved to Marfield Ohio years ago and was well remembered by local oldtimers.

Chicago Illinois July 12 in court today the Seat te and Winnipeg strikes were discussed as opening the case against William Bross Lloyd and others charged with plotting to overthrow the government. Assistant State's Attorney L D Heth said the defendants were disgruntled socialists who plotted to unseat national and state governments. Oscar J Brown of DeKalb is named as a defendant.

Michael A vonned, described as a parole violator, was captured in Aurora after fleeing with another man’s wife. He was taken to Fort Madison Iowa to stand trial for breaking parole and eluding authorities. Local police had pursued him since his escape from parole for burglary.

Speakers included Thomason of the nonpartisan league, Bagnall, De Valera, and calls for Irish independence recognition.
In Chicago Heights Illinois on July 12 two section men were killed when their hand car collided with a freight train. A third member of the party remained critical with possible death.

New York July 12 three crew members of the steam er Lake Frampton were lost when the vessel sank after a head on collision with the Southern Pacific liner Comus off Atlantic City New Jersey. The Comus sustained damage and was due to dock eight p m six hours late. Survivors status of Lake Frampton crew not confirmed.
University of Washington dispatch notes that leaders of bituminous coal operators plan to seek an extension of the Interstate Commerce Commission priority order that allocates all available open top cars to coal mines. The July expiry date prompts discussion on building a national coal reserve to meet household factory and utility needs.
A large crowd in the park watched DeKalb upset Rochelle by 5 to 4 in a tense season game. Both teams swung hot until DeKalb answered Rochelle three runs in the fourth with three of their own in the third, then pitchers settled. Rochelle vows revenge when DeKalb visits next Sunday.
