The partnership between Holland and Goodyear is dissolved. Merle Worden will replace Glenn Holland in the business, which will operate as Goodyear and Worden. Holland plans a vacation and future steps are undecided.
DeKalb friends report a Berggren family accident in Bergeren during a California trip home. Mr Berggren examined batteries after trouble and a match sparked an explosion causing serious burns. He was hospitalized in Denver with eye injuries but shows improvement. plans call for settling in Elsin after recovery.
A well attended band concert last night pleased music lovers in the city and surrounding area. The program featured Colossus of Columbia, Revelry, Italian Nights, Robin Hood, Canzonetta, Out of the East, Oriental Fox Trot Medley, American Patrol and The Star Spangled Banner.
The city’s flower beds are replanted with bulbs under the Woman's Club direction. The beds, spread across the city, enhance the various districts and attract visitors. Although planting was late this year, residents highly appreciate the effort and the city allocates a notable annual sum for upkeep.
A Citywide rumor credits the drop in fly numbers to the absence of garbage cans and regular trash hauling. Citizens note many backyards and city areas previously breeding grounds are now clean. Residents cite well-kept alleys and can removal as a key factor in reduced pests this season.
Tomorrow the Americ Wire base ball teams host a double header on Pleasant street. East and West Works face Rockdale with Rey Camp and his all stars arriving for the Rockdale game, while North and South Mill meet Chicago office. First pitch around one o'clock draws a large crowd.

Emma Johnson, 20, born in Sweden, died after childbirth and convulsions at about six last evening in this city hospital. Her husband Adolph Youngren and infant son survive along with her parents, sister Bertha Johnson, and brothers Evar Walter and Helmer. Funeral at 2 PM Sunday from her parents’ home and 2:50 PM at the First Lutheran Church. Interment at Fairview.
George Prescott and his men plan a Sunday motorcycle tour leaving at sunrise and arriving at Oregon by 6 30 PM They intend fishing and cooking their own meals with mulligan planned by an experienced cook, promising a relaxed day of leisure and camaraderie.
After three days of hard work Mitchell and Bresnahan moved their battery business to the Roach Building between First and Second streets on Locust. The larger space will allow expansion to meet rising demand. Mrs. Elmer Little and children returned to Sycamore after two weeks at the Warren Wiley home. The Illinois weather outlook calls for generally fair tonight and Saturday.
United Press reports Dayton and Oslo observers foresee a dry fight as Governor Cox faces pressure from pro prohibition supporters and anti prohibition backers. Cox vows to enforce the Volstead Act while noting changes require congressional action. A national Democratic committee meeting is planned in Columbus with Cox as a central figure. He recalls his first trip to Dayton and cites the nomination as a defining moment. White House says Cox and President Wilson will soon confer after two long distance talks.
Workmen on the Peter Chris tianson building have received the materials they needed and base work has resumed. Earlier delays were caused by gravel and element shortages, but with deliveries on hand, foundation work will proceed as quickly as possible. Additional required materials remain en route.
Police report few complaints this week as nine auto drivers speeding are cited. Officers remain vigilant and will pursue offenders, warning that any reckless driving endangers pedestrians and will be punished.
A group of former sailors from Dekalb and nearby areas are considering government service on an Eagle boat for the summer. They would receive the same discharge rating and pay as before. In St Louis on July 9 a nationwide primary law to end large campaign expenditures will be recommended to the senate committee probing presidential campaign spending. Chairman Kenyon said hearings should wrap up this investigation. He indicated the backing of voters who chose Senator Reed as a Democratic convention delegate will be examined, and Reed will be kept in the proceedings to satisfy quorum requirements.
London reports Bolshevik forces advancing on a soft front, more than 200 miles since the capsize of Ries from the Pole, with volunteers rushing to colors. The Bolshevik advance continues on the north front, with a 240 mile gain pushing toward the German border and cutting Poland from the Baltic Sea. British officials describe the Red advance as crushing to cavalry forces.
A large track and field event is set in New York under the American Legion auspices tomorrow. Notable entrants include college and high school stars from the East ahead of the Boston trials. Featured is the quarter mile with contenders Hendrixson, Maxim, Shea, Emery, Keppisch, and John from Cornell.
After a two month review of 3000 veniremen the jury for the conspiracy case against William Lloyd and 19 others was chosen. Lloyd leads the Communist Labor Party. Testimony likely to begin after instructions tomorrow. Dr J Brown helped found the party at its Chicago meeting. The case had been expected to be dropped but will be pushed.

Washington July report says a 10 percent net profit is being collected by bituminous coal mine operators in some districts through price reports cited by George P. L. Cushing of the American Wholesale Coal Association. Cushing warned consumers not to fall for the scare and denied a famine, arguing government agencies have aided profiteers.
The Pendleton tale about the Elwell murder resurfaced today with new witnesses backing the friend of the slain expert. District Attorney Edward Swann said the case remains unsolved as authorities still lack a solid lead.
Washington July 9 President Wilson will issue a call for the first meeting of the League of Nations assembly in a few days. The method of issuing the call is now being studied by authorities at the state department and local officials.
Greek troops reported capturing Brusa in Asia Minor from Turkish nationalists after a decisive battle in which Greek forces reportedly overran the city. The announcement came from official sources in Athens.

Charles Benson of North Sixth Street receives word that his brother J. H. Benson died June 7 at the old home in Sweden. The 53 year old merchant was a prominent figure in his hometown there. No further details have been received.
Confirmation from the state department states that Paul Nilson and American missionaries captured by Turkish nationalists in Asia Minor have been safely arrived. Nilson said no ransom was demanded by the Turks.

Ohio leaders issued a statement challenging Governor Cox a Democratic candidate, accusing him of misrepresenting past votes. The release cites ten years of statistics to claim Cox did not win key races and portrays him as unreliable, warning of a political setback for Democrats backing Cox.

Chicago July 9 Labor leaders debate forming a third party with the Committee of 48 and liberal groups. They favor a union of liberals under a national labor party title.
