Chicago Motor Club Beats Back Auto Legislation
The Chicago Motor Club reports the fifty fourth general assembly killed bills threatening motorists. Opposition stopped a glare headlamp ban and a 2 to 12 percent license fee proposal costing about 4 thousand dollars. A speed governor requirement would have added about 15 dollars per car, saving motorists 15 million. A public works control bill passed to curb speed traps, and motorists must halt at all state highways. Red and green forward lights were restricted to fire department use.
