Thomas Cox, an elderly farmer living with his son George Cox west of Shabbona Grove, cut his throat and died Thursday morning. His funeral was held today. He had long suffered ill health and was highly regarded in the Shabbona Grove neighborhood.

At a Chicago diocese clergy meeting Rev. James Madison Johnson of Elgin was named dean of the northern district to fill the vacancy caused by Peveren Merriman’s resignation. The appointment continues Johnsen’s post until relocation or vacancy occurs. Dr Fleetwood of Sycamore previously served twenty five years as dean and recently resigned due to age. Reverend Hannah of Elgin attends the gathering.
Mrs. L. H. Kennedy of Sycamore is recovering from multiple bone fractures after her automobile was struck by a DeKalb-Sycamore electric near the county infirmary. The accident injured Kennedy and left her car damaged, with residents assisting at the scene and authorities investigating the crash.

Belleville Illinois January 29 William Pryor 19 negro received hanging and William Wolfe 18 life imprisonment by a circuit court jury for the killing of Moses Kreame at Gast Street Saint Louis last July. Each blamed the other for the actual murder.
