Fatal boiler blast in Plano claims Mrs. Lord
Mrs. Julia M. Lord wife of Dr F H Lord of Plano died after a hot water boiler in the basement exploded at 11 am. Steam filled the basement trapping her from shoulders to knees. Her age 65. Relatives and a maid escaped. two passing men pulled her from the basement and a doctor and nurse treated her in Plano. Her death followed severe scalding and unconsciousness. Her husband a Plano druggist, children and relatives noted her prominent local service. Auto Bandits Are Taken To Joliet Penitentiary
Four Somonauk automobile bandits convicted of robbery in Sycamore were escorted by Sheriff Decker and four deputies to Joliet State Penitentiary. Wheeler aged 75 led the group with prior prison time, Trainor and Krueger have long records, Toomey received a light sentence of one to 14 years while the others drew the maximum 20 years. The convoy traveled from Aurora to Joliet.
