A 62 year old widow, Mrs. M. G. Keints, died in Wauconda Illinois on February 28 after an eleven mile walk from Barrington to her home. She had lost her purse and could not pay bus fare, and she collapsed upon reaching home.

Two Trucks In Slight Mishap This Morning
Two trucks collided about 7:00 this morning at Grove and Fourth streets. Roy Larson of Wirtz & Wirtz drove a furniture store truck west on Grove while two Breedlove Construction vehicles were parked nearby. A Breedlove truck pulled onto the street and struck the Wirtz truck causing minor damage to fronts and axles.

Vote trade alleged in Senate oil tariff lobbying
Washington February 28 Evidence of vote trading to secure tariff protection for oil sugar and lumber was presented by Wirt Franklin head of the Independent Petroleum Association. He said talks with sugar and lumber senators suggested trading votes with oil senators. The lobby group used two train loads of oil operators to press for a one dollar a barrel oil tariff. Franklin testified about a lunch with President Hoover arranged by War Secretary Hurley and said about $50 000 was raised to fund the campaign. He admitted a Oklahoma Colorado senator trade and a telegram implying Water Turn was involved.
