Inquest Held Over Death of Mrs Kahila Near Seventh Street
A coroner's inquest into the death of Mrs Karl Kahila found no evidence to determine whether she died by accident or other cause after being struck by a freight train near the Seventh street crossing. The jury reported death as caused by the train with no verdict on manner. The freight crew said they did not see the woman and no damage indicated a collision. Former local man Kenneth OConnell passes at 60
Kenneth OConnell of Maple Park and former DeKalb resident died yesterday at his home at age 60. He had suffered failing health for years and was nearly blind from eye injuries in youth. Survived by his widow, one sister Mrs Acres of Elburn, and two nephews in the eastern states. Funeral Monday at St Marys Catholic Church Maple Park with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Navy plant in Detroit under way to build submarine killers
Detroit February 23 Ford Motor Co started construction of a 2 million dollar ship building plant on the River Rouge to produce submarine killers.
