Shames Boys Learn of Fathers Death in Wisconsin
John and Tony Shames learned yesterday that their father William Shames about 82 died suddenly in Kenosha Wisconsin after heart trouble. DeKalb relatives said they did not know he was ill and will bring the body to DeKalb for funeral services and burial.

Giant incubator boosts chick hatching at Evergreen Leghorners Farm

Roof fires call department out twice over weekend
Two roof fires over the weekend drew fire department calls. At Charles Wales’s south Glidden Avenue home late Saturday afternoon, only a few burned shingles and some roof-board damage occurred. Sunday morning the Christianson residence on Third Grove caught sparks from a chimney with less damage than the Wales home. The chief warned roofs are dry and urged precautions and keeping soot and ash ready to quickly control embers.
