An Aurora salesman identified as Brooks was arrested in DeKalb after two checks drawn on Aurora banks were returned unpaid. One check for 315.0 cleared at the McCann news stand, the other at Snyder Smoke Shop. Brook’s forged National Bank check on Merchants National Bank was not honored and he failed to repay within 24 hours. Local merchants alerted authorities after he warned against lending money to Brooks. He is held on charges of obtaining money without funds, to be sent to Aurora for possible felony charges.
