Mrs. W. R. Yard of Marshalltown Iowa is ill at home with non serious condition, according to Frank Burdick who visited the Yard residence on his return from Rockville where his father remains ill but improving.
Berlin Feb 18. Dictator Von Kahr and General Lossow head of the Bavarian government resigned today. Dictatorship powers held by Von Kahr are returned to the Bavarian state cabinet. Retirement of Von Kahr eases the Marx government's ongoing Bavaria disputes and adjustments.
Partly overcast and somewhat unsettled tonight and Tuesday with little temperature change. The forecast notes no major shifts in daytime highs or nighttime lows, suggesting brief showers possible but overall steady conditions.
A. R. Russell, county commissioner of highways, attends a road school in Champaign for the week. He plans to learn from the leading experts present and apply the knowledge to spring and summer road work.
Dr B J Cigrand of Batavia headlined Batavia Kiwanis noon meeting with a forceful talk urging Americans to honor the flag through fundamental allegiance. He traced Flag Day origins from 1885 and noted Wilson's 1916 national recognition, citing his long work in education and patriotic lectures across Illinois and at Northwestern and the University of Missouri. He also addressed teachers at the college and spoke on loyalty to the Constitution at the Kiwanis dinner. A public address at Star theatre tonight will cover National Founders and Defenders.
Listeners in the city heard the Illinois University Green Club featuring Stanley Hunt son of Mr and Mrs Ed Hunt broadcasting from station WMAQ Chicago. Three college glee clubs aired on the program.
Rev. Fred W. Fields, current pastor of First Baptist Batavia, will become pastor of DeKalb’s First Baptist Church. He starts Sunday April 6, after finishing a rebuilding campaign in Batavia including a new pipe organ. Fields, from Canada, has war service in Britain and aviation work, and has led Batavia’s Kiwanis chapter as president. The DeKalb church has been without a pastor since July and looks forward to an aggressive campaign under his leadership.
Workmen at DeKalb Trust & Savings Bank are fitting up living apartments with rapid progress. Contractor John Anderson complains of weather delaying completion. One or two apartments are now occupied and as soon as others are completed they will be filled.
The steel company men staged a minstrel show at the building last Saturday praised as clever and well given. A shorter version will be presented tonight for workers and families with a curtal and home talent acts scheduled from eight to eleven o'clock. William Leutbecker predicts an even better performance than Saturday's and a shorter program.
DeKalb County Farmers Institute and Agricultural Association wrap up a week long poultry show at the Wace Arena. Hundreds attended with rising farmer interest over prior years, the association reports. A full show report and plans for next year are pending Taber’s release.

Workmen of the North Western replace another broken rail on the Fourth Street crossing. The crew notes the roadbed near the crossing may be in poor condition, causing rails to snap easily this time of year. They remain busy with crossing repairs and hope for more work soon.

Soldier bonus advocates in Congress plan talks with alien property custodian Thomas W. Miller and Rep. Fairchild about a possible inquiry into charges that Secretary Mellon misled Presidents Harding and Coolidge regarding Treasury conditions to defeat the soldier bonus. Miller and Fairchild voiced the charges at American Legion meetings in New York. They alleged Treasury estimates were inflated and that a deficit was shown when a $300 million surplus existed, suggesting similar manipulation to oppose the bonus.
In Lincoln Nebraska District 1 Judge W M Morning was shot dead in court by Wallace Wallick who then killed himself. Clifford Rein attorney for Mrs Wallick escaped injury as Wallick fired at him then turned the revolver on himself dying minutes later. Morning died ten minutes after the shooting as court attendants tried to intervene.
President Coolidge assumes direct charge of enforcing prohibition in Washington after Senator Greene of Vermont was wounded by a stray bullet amid a clash between city agents and bootleggers. Greene underwent bone splinter surgery and remains in serious condition with infection risk. Slemp reports from emergency hospital on Greene’s condition.
Pythians plan a big time Tuesday evening to mark the 60th anniversary of the Knights of Pythias founding. A 6 30 banquet will feature Innovation Grill serving members with music, brief talks, and assorted numbers after dinner before dancing.

The Senate confirms Owen J. Roberts of Philadelphia as second oil counsel by a large margin. Court action in the Teapot Dome scandal could come within 48 hours with injunctions sought to halt further oil withdrawals by Harry Sinclair and E L Doheny. Hearings are postponed to February 25 as subpoenas are issued and details of a sensational confession remain guarded.
In Atlanta area a school bus carrying four children was struck by a speeding Southern Railway passenger train in heavy fog. Driver W M Harper 16 survived. sisters Virginia 12 and Ruby Brown 11 died. two other passengers were injured.
