Reports from Pekin say American missionaries at Lin Yang are under fire with supplies cut for three weeks. The Free American Lutheran missionary Nils D. Nilson is reported killed by a stray bullet after General Wu Pei Fu seized the area. Violent clashes hit Evansville coal mines in Indiana
In Evansville Indiana a union drive turned violent as miners confronted non union workers injuring about a dozen. A non union miner Lee Corbett was critically stabbed and hospitalized as 50 police guarded Sunnyside mine and guards prepared for a possible march to shut it down. Authorities liaised with Indiana National Guard adjutant general William Kirchner who said troops would not be deployed unless needed.

Mills Close for Shaft Repair at West Wire Mill
American Steel and Wire company workers in the west wire mill and wall mill were kept from duty yesterday and this morning while the main drive shaft for both mills was repaired. The shaft broke around 5:30 am Tuesday and parts from Waukegan were needed before repairs could finish. A crew stayed on site last night, with others reportedly returning to work today.
