Slain deputies found near Covington after search
Bodies of Deputy Sheriffs Wallace McClure and John P. Grove were discovered in a woods near Covington Indiana after a weeklong search. They disappeared February 7 while en route from Lafayette to the Pendleton state reformatory. Suspects linked to the case were held in St Clairesville Ohio and other cities as authorities ran down leads. Thousands joined posses in the manhunt, with little actionable progress and unclear cause of death.

Unmoved Upon Death Sentence for Soldier Home Murder
Jos eph Bella, a Danville employee, was found guilty of murdering Mrs. Julia Flaherty mother of seven, and sentenced to death in the electric chair after just over an hour of jury deliberation. County teachers hold one day institute at State Teachers College
County educators from high schools city grade schools and rural schools gathered in DeKalb for a one day institute led by Warren Hubbard county school superintendent. About 345 teachers attended though travel conditions reduced turnout. The program featured a musical opening by A Neil Annas lectures by J C Brown John B McCrory and Prof F B Snyder followed by sectional meetings chaired by rural and grade school representatives. Fireman Killed As Train Derails Near Independence
W. P. Young, fireman of the Midday Limited running Kansas City to St. Louis on the Chicago and Alton road, was killed when the engine and tender derailed at Independence Missouri. Engineer William Wetton was injured. Young was pinned in wreckage for hours as the engine and tender rolled down an embankment. No passengers were hurt.

Kansas City born actor Eddie Foy Jr died of heart disease at 8 45 a m in his hotel suite in Baltimore. He was in Kansas City for a weekly Orpheum theater engagement and had danced for over six decades.
