Senator Medill McCormick spoke at the Star theatre in DeKalb outlining contrasts between American recovery and European distress since Harding’s era. Rev E H Timberlake preached on The Solution of Life's Problems at the Advent Christian church last night. He urged that the second coming of Jesus Christ is the only answer to world war and trouble, citing authorities and the Bible as the sole authority. Tomorrow he speaks at 11:00 a.m. on Land Ahead and 7:30 p.m. on A Square Deal.
Mrs Emma Tolman of Chicago spoke at the Methodist Church on America's Wonderland in Picture and Story. The illustrated lecture showcased Yellowstone and Royal Gorge, with Tolman noting her work with the National Park Association and the Tourist and Publicity Bureau, while Kiwanis members hosted Mr East who invited her.
Washington senator Frank Green was struck near the left eye by a stray bullet while returning to his hotel with Mrs. Green. Police arrested a Prohibition Agent Otis Fisher. An x ray will determine the fracture extent as Green rests at Emergency Hospital and reports say he is in good condition after a restful night.
Funeral services for Mrs Frank Shoemaker, who died after a months long illness, were conducted yesterday afternoon at the Very Good Year Home on South Third Street. The Reverend L L Hammitt of the Methodist church led the rites and burial occurred in Oakwood. Mrs Shoemaker was well known in the community and the death surprised many friends. Mr and Mrs Shoemaker had lived on South First Street for several years.
At Innovation Special Sunday Dinner a menu features Blue Point Oysters in half shell and a range of dishes including Roast Young Duck, Milkseed Chicken, Pattie Patches a la Reine, and Beef au jus with vegetables and desserts. Nels Udesen died in Rochelle after a prolonged battle with tuberculosis. Rites are set for Monday at Rochelle Lutheran Church, with burial in Rochelle Lawn Ridge Cemetery. Born in Denmark on August 7 1893 he moved to the United States at age nine and lived in Rochelle for the last decade. He survived by his father Ole and four brothers and three sisters.
Major Goodison, plagued by a persistent cold, reveals a patch over his left eye to halt the infection that has spread there. Friends at city hall say the patch signals a more dangerous attack, though physicians report the cold in the eye is the immediate issue and treatment continues.
Old resident Dormer Wilkinson traveled to Kirkland to view the body of Jobe Henry Moon an elderly farmer found dead in bed. Witnesses say heart trouble was the likely cause. He leaves a son and family on the farm formerly owned by the father.
Pleyel firm leaders M. Gaston Guillotel and M. Robert Lion toured the Apollo piano factory in DeKalb. They examined latest manufacturing processes and the model plant, noting France’s Pleyel as a leading European piano maker with a strong global reputation. Michigan’s strength stems from car manufacturing and consumer demand while Illinois benefits from diversified income sources.

His losses stem from signing many notes for young men to settle land in the Mississippi delta as agriculture slumped buyers failed to pay and he covered demands from his own exhausted fortune.
Library workers request the return of a wash stand removed from the alley behind The Chronicle building during remodeling. They doubt it was stolen and expect the rubbish collector may return it to its owner. Police do not consider the stand stolen.
One fire department unit was sent to Roy Barrett’s home on South First Street for a chimney fire. The aid was not needed as the blaze was contained by safety first measures. Dispatch showed the call at 8 40 this morning and only one wagon responded.

Dr. J S Rankin and wife received word that Edmond E Rankin 63 of Kalamazoo Michigan died Wednesday. He was a former Kalamazoo mayor in 1901 and a 33rd degree Mason. Rankin also served as past sovereign commander of St Vincent Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.
United Press report from Washington records Houston Thompson, chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, testifying before the Senate Interstate Commerce Committee that George Christian Jr. sought to pressure the commission over the Fam- Players- Lasky antitrust case. Thompson said Christian discussed the matter at the White House in May 1921, insisting no complaint had yet been issued and that hearings were not granted to non-defendants. He noted the action appeared to be improper pressure, while denying Harding’s involvement.
