A Feb 11 12 tour ing car believed to be driven by two deputies who vanished Tuesday after leaving Lafayette Indiana with two state prisoners from Pendleton Indiana was located in a Decatur garage. At Roosevelt Field N Y Feb 11 Charles A Levine and Witmer Stutz attempted an endurance flight in the monoplane Columbia. The plane grazed a car on the runway breaking a tail skid and rudder post. The craft swerved to avoid the automobile after moving about 200 yards. The flight was postponed until tomorrow for repairs.
Firefighters arrived on relief train and found five men alive at the 673 foot level as rescue efforts stalled. At Hollinger mine in Timmins the blaze, believed to have started by spontaneous combustion, trapped 47 workers, with officials fearing high losses. A rescue car was en route from Pennsylvania as oxygen dwindled and fumes intensified.
Plans announced to remodel Leslie’s at Second Street and Lincoln Highway in DeKalb into a major five cent to one dollar store with more than $25,000 in work.
