Loot Found Hidden Away in Slayer’s Joliet Room
Joliet police recovered several hundred dollars worth of loot from Otto Johnson, the confessed slayer of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jeske and their six year old son. Johnson died Saturday noon after his confession. The loot, including trinkets and cheap rings, was hidden under the floor of his first floor room, with removed boards and scooped dirt in a noncellar home.

Five Die as Fire Destroys Farm Home in Dowagine
Five members of a seven member family perished when a fire of unknown origin engulfed the William Wilkinson farm home six miles north of Dowagine Michigan. Mr and Mrs Wilkinson their son Floyd daughter Jeanette and the infant were burned to death. Two other sons Harold and Arnold escaped work on a nearby farm. Neighbors could not control the blaze as flames collapsed parts of the house and trapped the victims. All five bodies were recovered and taken to a local morgue. The mother had been blind for many years.

Word reaches this city of the death of Ambrose Condon formerly of this city who was struck by an automobile while walking with a fellow workman on a Peoria highway Sunday evening. The other worker was seriously hurt but is expected to recover. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Peoria. R E Vose longtime superintendent of the North and South works of the American Steel and Wire company died at his North Fourth Street home after returning from a volleyball game. Believed to have suffered a stroke around 9 30 PM he died within minutes. Born February 22 1868 near Waukegan he spent about 30 years with the steel firm before moving to DeKalb in 1917 where he led the East and West works before becoming North and South chief. Survived by widow a son George F Vose of Park Avenue and a sister Mrs Louise Babcox of Waukegan, with many relatives and friends in DeKalb and Waukegan. Funeral set for Saturday at 10 AM at the North Fourth Street home with Rev C B Upson then burial in Pineow cemetery near Waukegan.
