Ford Useful to Stop Runaway in City Today

A farm team from Ernest Benson’s outfit chased a runaway wagon through South Second Street from Locust to Franklin, striking two cars and causing minor damage. The team finally halted when the wagon struck a Ford parked on Franklin, badly damaging the car but causing no injuries to anyone.

Two Wounded in Chicago Gun Battle

Chicago police report a detective sergeant James Cayne was shot and wounded by an unidentified bandit during a hold up at Sheridan Road and avenue. Cayne returned fire, wounding the bandit who was also unidentified.

Weichlein Call to Lead Sycamore Parish Mission

The Sycamore St Peter's church extended a call to Rev. F H Weichlein of Chicago for the local mission priest post. He will officiate at St Peter's Sunday and likely be in DeKalb a week hence. Mrs Weichlein praised as pulpit orator, with family joining soon. The Sycamore vote was unanimous for the new rector, to be sent to the DeKalb field per church procedure.
