Elgin Fans Arrested After High School Basketball Game
A dozen Elgin supporters were detained by police after a high school game for drunkenness. Pioneer Abel Downer Dies Quietly in Illinois Home
Abel Downer, an octogenarian Illinois pioneer born April 10, 1887 in Naperville, died in his sleep at the Herbert Bush home on South Second Street. Found by relatives this morning, his death likely occurred earlier. Survived by wife Sarah Palmer Downer and children Lulu Carter, Nathan B., and Roswell D. Downer, with Susie dying in infancy. Downer’s family helped settle northern Illinois, including Aurora and a residence later named Downer Place. His life spanned farming in Lee, Nebraska, and moves to Fairfield, Aurora, and California before returning to the area prior to his health decline.

Services for Durand Woman Tuesday Miss Lillian Taylor Dies
The remains of Miss Lillian Taylor daughter of J L Taylor of Durand Wisconsin died yesterday in DeKalb Illinois where she had lived with her sister Miss Mary Taylor for two years. Born in July 1889 in Spring Grove Wisconsin she was a patient sufferer for nearly two years. She is survived by her father two sisters Mae and Mary and two brothers Earle of DeKalb and James of Broadhead Wisconsin.

Fire pumper cleans Elks Club cisterns quickly
