Washington D C Dec 31 Dis sension again harried the arms conference as friction flared between Chinese and Japanese delegates over the Shantung question. The naval talks recess while France awaits replies on Root resolution and submarine limits.
John Latimer of DeKalb County Illinois marketed a load of 104 lb feeder lambs at 11.40. The drovers journal notes the lambs began weighing 61 lb in September showing Latimer's feeder ability.
Monday will be observed as a New Year holiday in DeKalb with factories closed and no required work. Most stores and barber shops will also be closed or observe holiday hours, post office hours affected, and lodge meetings canceled.
Corwin to speak at the Kiwanis Club on Tuesday evening in Chicago. Doc Corwin is billed as the entertainer after a 6 30 dinner prepared by the Rebekah ladies, marking the first meeting of the new year and the installation of new officers.

Washington D C Dec 31 Governor Harding of the Federal Reserve Board says experience of American business men in a two year low mood points to a new era of prosperity. He cited cycles of business activity and predicted revival will be followed by a long period of growth after recent waves of liquidation. He believes the current generation has several years of business activity ahead.
Fifty women including some wealthy individuals are being questioned by police in New York over the stabbing deaths of two Chinese men, Sam Sat and Tom Shaw, found in a three room opium den. Detectives uncovered a list of 50 names of American women and suspect a blackmail motive behind the killings.
Twenty three people die when the Italian ship Serema sinks after a collision with Soviet ice breaker Vinga off the Finnish coast in the early hours. The vessels crashed without warning and passengers could not reach lifeboats before the Serema went to the bottom.
Henry Allen of Lyndon, a candidate for the legislature, spends several days touring the county and checking fences. He is the sole White Side County candidate and is backed by the county on the belief that local representation in the state government is needed.
