Suspect in Murder Held in Winnebago County
Winnebago county authorities grilled two men over the fatal shooting of Deputy Sheriff H. W. Wilkinson at Herbert last Saturday evening. Victor Zambrowski and Joseph Shestokes, both 22, are under arrest in Rockford with confessions to multiple robberies. Ballistics will test if Wilkinson was killed by Shestokes, who after hours of questioning attempted suicide in custody. The two gunmen allegedly used a Dodge to rob Mrs. Henry Larson near Pingree Grove, netting about 1200 dollars in cash and jewelry.

University official Warren Bovard dies by own action in Los Angeles

Washington reports the government invites bids to build the Hoover Dam in Boulder Canyon on the Colorado River.
