Board of education met at A G Kennedy offices to review second set of bids for school construction. First bids were above budget. new bids to be opened today with decisions likely delayed until Monday or later. Officials hope to start work soon and align with bond issue. Further notices expected early next week.
E S Rayworth host of Apollo Piano company welcomed Rotary members to the factory on Thursday noon. Joseph Brothers of Hotel DeKalb served dinner from the drying ovens to keep food piping hot. Rayworth arranged musical numbers and a sight seeing tour of the plant. Members called it one of the season’s best meetings.
News comes of the death of Mrs. A B Anderson at her Leland home after a long illness. A longtime resident for 70 years she was born in Norway and moved here as a child. Funeral held at her home then at Leland church. Aunt to Mrs. Lewis Eames of DeKalb and Mrs. Oakland of Sycamore. Weather prevented Mr. and Mrs. Eames from attending.
Two Kiwanis events marked the Monday noon session at Rebekah hall the annual officers election and the assignment of families to Good Fellows for Christmas dinners. The club plans to supply meals to needy families, reflecting the season’s community outreach.

An old man and his brown bear en route from Mexico to Washington are delayed as the bear is kept in DeKalb for rest after catching a cold.
