December 19 marks Santa Claus Day in DeKalb. Santa will visit ill children at home from 9:00 to 12:00, lunch with reindeer at 12:00 to 1:00, then proceed to the Fargo Theater area for gatherings. Parents may call the Chamber of Commerce with child names and addresses by Wednesday night.
Embree and E. E. Embree firm awarded the city sewer pipe contract for a storm drain and sanitary sewer from DeKalb Avenue and Sycamore Road to Kishwaukee. Five bids were received with Embree lowest at 1,214.40 dollars. work to start soon. The city and sanitary district share two thirds and one third costs respectively.

In Dixon Illinois two men Roy Williams and Edward Sheean died after drinking wood alcohol mixture described as an anti freez e fluid. Williams 38 was a father of eleven and Sheean 40 was unmarried. Their bodies were found in Williams automobile after it skidded into a ditch. Emanuel May reported to Sheriff Richardson that Williams and Sheean invited him to drink last night. he declined and they drove away.

A trap four miles from Sidell Illinois sent the gang into a siege with gunfire and a captured stolen truck. The dead men, dressed well and about 45 or 50, left Chicago business cards. one wounded man is not expected to live. The five thousand dollar loot remains missing.
Danville Virginia December 10 Lockwood Pickett age 24 was shot and critically wounded early today after failing to halt his car at guard commands in the Danville cotton strike zone. Sixty gallons of liquor were found in the vehicle and no link shown to strike disturbances. A female passenger fled during the confusion. Governor Pollard announced no troop withdrawal from the strike area following a bombing at Magistrate Fitts residence.
