City to Begin Sewer and Storm Drain Project
The city will start a combined storm drain and sanitary sewer from Sycamore Road and DeKalb Avenue to Kishwaukee Creek within two weeks. Insane men break jail at Matteawan escape in route to NYC
Six inmates from Matteawan State Hospital for the Criminal Insane escaped with three liberators in a high speed car through Peekskill toward New York City. Police pursued after a stalled vehicle, while at Matteawan the plot involved William H. Nelson and four others who overpowered guards, freed 70 inmates and fled with keys.
