Tony Hepmhill aged 17 and Anel Calgagerera 14 were found murdered near Royalton with throats cut and heads crushed. Santino DeFantis of West Frankfort was held in Marion County on suspicions tied to their disappearance and a bank robbery. The bodies were buried in a shallow grave near Royalton. A butcher knife lay nearby with blood on it. Police believe the killings aimed to prevent the boys from revealing details of the robbery. DeFantis reportedly admitted taking the youths to Royalton but denies murder knowledge.

Two cars owned by HM Johnson and John Donnelly had a minor collision at Third Street and Lincoln Highway last night due to a misunderstanding. One car attempted a northbound turn while the other moved west. they collided and spun, but no injuries were reported and damages were assessed.
