Girl Scout Troop Activities Highlight March Events
Mrs Wan da Whitmire's troop kept busy after the Cookie Sale. On March 1 they rode the Sam Houston through the Houston Ship Channel and helped the Ladies Civic Club distribute the Deer Park telephone directory. On March 8 they began roller skating lessons at Skate Ranch in Pasadena, continuing Saturdays from 9 to 10 with 45 minutes of practice, aiming for the Skater Badge after eight weeks. The Parkway Neighborhood held its Juliette Low International Friendship Program on March 14 at the Petro-Tech Recreation Building, with Troop 104 representing Japan in kimono and dance. Mrs Betty VanRheem led the program with guest speaker Mrs Nancy Becker, followed by box suppers from each family.
