Deer Park School District trustees approved a policy requiring vaccination and immunization for entry to kindergartens and first grade, with exemptions for medical or religious reasons, and tuberculosis tests for grades 1 and 7. The policy becomes effective September 1 and applies to transfers from other districts.

The Houston Harris County Red Cross Chapter issued ten safety tips for the 1969 hurricane season.
