New Ministry To International Seamen Instituted In Houston
A new ministry serving seamen passing through Houston port has been established as the Houston International Seamen's Center. Housed in a St. Vincent de Paul building, it offers chaplains, library, canteen, and recreation with future plans including a soccer field, pool, and chapel at a redesigned center near City docks. The Port Commission has 7.4 acres for a larger facility costing about $750,000, with support from several denominations including Southern Baptist, Episcopal, and United Methodist among others.
