City school leader services Held for Councilman Fred Brown
Fred Joseph Brown 33 Deer Park City Councilman and high school counselor died in a car crash on State Highway 146 near the Baytown La Porte Tunnel. He was a Houston native with a record of civic church and educational service. Final rites were held Sept. 4 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel of the Roses with burial at Grandview Memorial Park. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers included local officials and council members. He attended Sul Ross State College and held leadership roles in drama, debate, and church groups.

A Fred Brown Memorial Fund and a Dennis C Partlow Medical Expense Fund were started at Deer Park Bank after Brown’s death on Sept 1 and Partlow’s auto crash the same day. Partlow, a Deer Park High School graduate, remains in coma at Pasadena Bayshore Hospital with rising medical costs. Contributions to either fund may be mailed or given in person.
