Carter and Reagan topped Texas precincts with large margins. In precinct 51 Carter averaged 213 delegates with Bentsen at 65 and Wallace at 64. Reagan averaged 175 to Ford's 45 in Republican counts. Precinct 420 showed Carter 243 to Bentsen 92, and Reagan 197 to Ford 72 with Steelman sweeping Senate.
The San Jacinto College Board of Regents awarded Massey Judge Constructors Inc a 179500 dollar contract for a 4500 square foot addition to Anders Gymnasium featuring shower dressing and training rooms and offices. Construction spans 120 days with completion scheduled before fall semester. The low bid edged out six bids read. the high bid was 202861 by E J Groba General Contractor. Also, January 15 1977 was set for the next regents election. Regent Homer Longnecker will retire at term end. The board approved retiree plan changes narrowing to Liberty Lincoln Life and Businessmen’s Assurance Co of America for annuities. Action on variable annuities was tabled. The state auditor requested a monthly tuition and fee adjustment to align with semester hourly rates.
