In Deer Park at Carpenter Elementary fourth year pupils create spring poetry after video poetry lessons led by Robert Garcia. A spring bulletin board features blossoms birds bees and bugs with students from Rooms 209 and 211 named among contributors in the students’ creative writing showcase.
Clinton Sparks was sworn in as a new member of the Planning and Zoning Commission replacing outgoing member Mike Warren who was honored with a plaque. A preliminary plot for Regency 2nd Gibraltar was discussed alongside a 72 acre Park on Pasadena Boulevard by W D Lawther, approving over 370 homes.
Fernando Sarabia of Baranquilla Colombia became the first contributor to the Arabia Shrine 1977 Hospital Benefit Day. He presented pennies saved over four years to David L. Brown co chair at area shopping centers and streets on Saturday April 2. Shrine Hospital Day proclaims by Governor Dolph Briscoe and a Shrine Benefit Skate April 3 at Banner Roller skating rinks will donate proceeds to Shrine Children's Hospitals.
Monday March 3 features Barbecue Jink in bun Tatar rounds broccoli with cheese sauce and a peanut butter cookie. Tuesday March 29 offers Chicken potpie whipped yogurt green salad and ice cream. Wednesday March 30 serves Hamburger French fries hamburger aid and chocolate cake. Thursday March 31 includes Chili con carne rice cole slaw cornbread and fresh fruit.
Students at Deer Park Junior High want to form an FFA group and take vocational agriculture classes but the district offers no such courses. Eighth grader Bentley Nettles says 42 students signed a petition yet insufficient numbers exist to hire an agriculture teacher.
