The ninth annual tasting bee labeled Clown Alley will be held Saturday at Deer Park Junior High cafeteria 410 B 7 Oab Street from :30 to 9 pa. Homemade items including pigs in the blanket tuna croquette king ranch chicken coast beef and more will be sold. Advance tickets from food services employees adults 3 children 12 and under 1.50.
Moore described per day per student funding as minimal. Of 40 budget based districts Deer Park is the largest and lies in oil rich west Texas. The Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department battled two major house fires on Taylor Lane and College Park Drive, with wind fanning flames and extensive damage. Additional calls included smoke in businesses, grass fires, an overpass accident, a motorcycle crash, and a possible heart attack, with several patients hospitalized and minor damages reported.
City officials debated housing safety as Mayor Bill Black warned about fires caused by indoor ranges and urged vent precautions. Councilman Jim Kite urged workshop review of park land or monetary requirements for new subdivisions, while citizens complained about inappropriate materials sold locally.
