Deer Park breaks ground on $2 million Unox water plant
The city of Deer Park held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday February 27 for a new 6 million gallons per day oxygen based wastewater plant on a seven acre site near Highway 225 and Center Street. The Unox system reduces energy use and land needs while cutting odors and effluent shocks. EPA Texas Water Quality Board Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority and local officials attended led by Mayor W E Black. The project is funded with a 7.5 million bond approved in 1969 and will take 10 to 32 months to complete with initial operation at 3 million gallons per day followed by capacity increases.
