Deer Park Fire Department Answers December 29 to January 4 Calls
The Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Corps responded to four fire calls and three first aid emergencies. Incidents included a Center Street smoke report with no damage, a two vehicle crash on Highway 134 with gas leak contained, a car fire on Hills hire with minor damage, and a trash fire at Jefferson site. Emergency corps assisted auto and car-truck crashes with minor injuries.

Shell Oil and SES Inc. announce Jan 1 increases of 3.6 million in combined debt and equity, giving Shell 80 percent of SES. SES markets cadmium sulfide photovoltaic devices and will produce long life modules for remote or mobile power, boats, radios, and other uses while continuing R and D to raise cell output and lower costs.

Local Air Force Recruits Named Kelly Daily Graduates
Thomas W. Kelly son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Kelly of 905 Elm St enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 15 and is in basic training at Lackland AFB Texas. He will earn four semester hours via the Community College of the Air Force and may proceed to further technical or on the job training after basic. Deer Park High School graduate. Airman Mark K Daily son of Mr and Mrs Thomas J Daily Jr of 4414 Durant has graduated at Lackland AFB from the security policeman course and will be assigned to Altus AFB Oklahoma with a Strategic Air Command unit. Daily is a 1975 La Porte High School graduate. His wife Patricia is the daughter of Mr and Mrs T F Clark.
