Carpenter Capers at Christmastime in School Art Rooms
Ruth Field reflects that Christmas is more than tinsel as special education classes in rooms 204 and 205 craft candle holders from plastic cartons and cardboard with gold paint and red candles. Students Christine Cook, Ricky Fitzwater, Randy Howell, Jeff Pope, Chris Noland, Allen Ross, Steven Santiago, Craig Winton, Phyllis Meredith, Vera Clapp, Timmy Hamlin, Danny Trahan, Henry Rojas, Carla Munselle, Jeff Hurley, Kyle Eckhardt, Ronald Tilley, Rhonda Howell, Emma Tisdale, Dwayne Menager and Alan Johnson are named. Room 104 displayed torn art by first graders, including Dana Beaumont, Mark Yandell, Susan Brown, and Tracy Townsend, and studied cattle trucks in transportation lessons. Virginia McCullough shared Christmas Trees of the World via slides while rooms 203–207 toured the Museum of Natural Science, lunch at the park, and a zoo visit. The piece ends with a roster tease for the Orange Carpenter basketball team, to be followed by the White team next week, listing players like Clay Wamble and Freddy Gonzalez.

Governor keeps timing on 1972 special session hidden
Austin awaits Gov. Preston Smith stance on a possible 1972 special legislative session. He ties it to budget needs and revenue estimates, noting a session could occur before or after the filing deadline and primary campaigns. He also cites potential Supreme Court rulings on filing fees and not replacing Speaker Gus Mutscher as emergencies guiding timing.
