Deer Park Highs Off Season Program Builds Stronger Team
In 1965 Deer Park High School launched an intensive off season development plan to offset small roster depth. Coach Bobby Grisham led weight training, agility drills, and a four day weekly schedule with four achievement levels, awarding labeled jerseys like Pentathlon and Decathlon. By 1967 gains showed in bench and leg press, sprint times, and overall scores, with the team posting a 24-15 record over five years and many athletes earning top honors.
