Brick Yard Shuts Down After Season Ends
Kornmeyer Brothers end brick production for 1913 after a machine accident was repaired. They will enlarge sheds to add drying capacity for 100,000 bricks at an estimated cost of 2000 to 3000 dollars. Output this year exceeded one million bricks with no surplus past eight thousand, and next year production should reach 1,500,000. Sales are mainly in Winneshiek Allamakee Clayton and Fayette counties.

Obituary for William Gellerman of Decorah dies at 84
William Gellerman, longtime Decorah resident born in Oldenburg Germany, died at his Fifth Ward home shortly after midnight on Monday October 13. He aged 84 years seven months and seven days, survived by his wife Dorothea and eight children, with eight grandchildren among the family. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at his home with Rev. Mahlon Willett officiating. interment followed at Phelps cemetery.

Boy Scouts Hold Large Meeting and Emergency Talk
A sizable Boy Scouts gathering met at their rooms last Saturday afternoon with about fifty in attendance. Dr. Swezey gave a practical lecture on emergency care for cuts and fractures, showing how to stop bleeding and set a limb temporarily. The gymnasium is expected to be cleared by next Saturday but not yet ready for general use.
College Band Will Serenade City This Saturday
Luther College Concert Band plans a city serenade Saturday evening October 18 starting at 7 30 P M playing along business streets. If weather is foul the concert moves to the next Saturday.
