Nurses Wanted Amid Shortage for Red Cross Service

Dr. C. B. Chase of Town City State University warns of a nurse shortage as many women volunteer for Red Cross work. He calls for at least 20,000 to begin training immediately and says May tours will promote nursing careers to girls. In Lorraine, two American girls aided soldiers wearing gas masks near the front lines, Misses Gladys and Irene McIntyre of Mt. Vernon, NY, served refreshments during a bombardment.

Nominations for Primary In Iowa State Offices

Nominations for state offices closed last Thursday at midnight with most candidates listed. The Republicans hold nominates for U S Senate William S Kenyon and Governor W L Harding while Democrats lack a slate to oppose Kenyon. Other offices show a mix of Republican and Democrat nominees including Attorney General HW M Havner and Joseph J Meyer, and several state and district posts. County offices close tonight.
