Judge Horace E. Deemer longtime Iowa supreme court member and thrice chief justice died at his Red Oak home at 2 am. Born September 24 1858 in Indiana he moved to Cedar County Iowa later studying law at Iowa University. He served as district judge from 1886 and joined the supreme bench in 1894 with multiple chief justice terms. He married Jeanette Gibson in 1882 and authored several legal books and lectures.
